Yesterday we came back from a fun-filled three day Disney trip. We, of course, went to Downtown Disney's East and West sides, but the most fascinating part was on the third day when, as a surprise trip, we went to Blizzard Beach.
Blizzard Beach is a waterpark filled with fun and action. The story behind it is that a freak snowstorm hit Florida and the people there built a ski resort, but with a rise in temperature the snow started to melt leaving waterslides in the hot sun.
When you first walk into the park you will see a building. In here you can rent lockers and towels and other things you need to enjoy your stay. When you walk around a corner you will see Snowless Joe's locker rental, but the first building is much less crowded and will help you get to the rides even faster.
After wiping on some sun screen you're ready to go. The rides themselves open at 9:00, but the park itself opens for you around 8:30 or 8:40. I find that it is better to warm up on the more intense rides.
The first ride I went on was called the Downhill Double Dipper. This ride would be good to hit early in the morning, because in the middle of the day when its crowded this ride gets very popular. This is a humungo speed slide 1/2 in a tube and 1/2 out. There are two slides next to eachother so you can race a friend or just go by yourself. This ride is a step down from Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher, but it is still pretty intense. You step into a small pool in ankle deep water and sit on a tube. You rest your feet on a plastic lever until someone pushes a button and the lever goes down launching you into a 3 second free fall down an intensely inclined slope and then bumping over the second dip and letting you slide down the slide, still sloping downward and splashing into a large pool and getting soaked! This is one of my personally favorite rides. It might be a little intense for younger riders under the age of 9 so one parent could go on it with an older sibling while the younger one hangs with the other parent next to the landing pool where the slide runs into.
The second ride is a real crowd pleaser and would also be good to hit in the beggining of the day. This is a ride the whole family will enjoy. With lots of dips and a family size raft Teamboat Springs is a good start to the day. Ride up on the sides of the waterslide following the stream of water and then as a finale dip down two sets of falls, just big enough to make you scream. For kids of all ages.
Next we went on Toboggan Racers a fun racing ride where you get on tobbogans and slide over three dips and down going really fast. Children of all ages can ride this ride. It might look steep and kind of freaky, but don't be scared, it's really fun. Hit this in the mid-morning, because it isn't the most popular.
Next? Snow Stormers, kind of like a smaller version of Teamboat Springs. It's good fun for the whole family with lots of turns and riding up on the walls. For children of all ages. Go around mid-morning.
After that we came upon Runoff Rapids. In this ride you have a choice: go alone on a single innertube in the dark or go on a double innertube in the light. Fun for all ages on this ride, but darkness could be scary for younger audiences, because at times it is pitch black while still going around corners, but at others you can see slightly through small holes in the sides. Smaller children might like the open tubes better where they can sit with someone else, look up at the bright sunlight, and still enjoy all the thrills of the enclosed tube.
Those there are my favorite rides even though there is much more to do and see. Check out rates, attractions and other fun stuff at:

The links at the top of the page are kid friendly, safe you-tube videos. I have not looked at the comments made so those might not be, so if you're a kid, ask your mom or dad to come with you if you want to look at the comments made there. They're in randomn order and I think you can tell which ones they are by the descriptions I gave.
